Ultra-rare first issue of The Protagonist Magazine, the lavish hardback publication that set out to blur the boundaries between art, cinema and fashion. Conceived as a modern heir to The Yellow Book, it treats the magazine as an art object - a space where image, text and design meet in deliberate excess.

Under the editorial direction of Ram Shergill and Daen Palma Huse, this debut issue pairs Douglas Booth’s aristocratic poise on the cover with a bold, eclectic mix inside: George MacKay, Cynthia Erivo, Felicity Gilbert and Abraham Brody appear among essays on body politics, performance and the reinvention of beauty.

With visual contributions from Valery Steinberg, Tracey Padron and Hannah Blackman-Kurz, and fashion direction by Margherita Gardella, this is a publication that reads like a fever dream of modern style.

Very good+ condition: Unread copy, internally pristine - clean, crisp and tightly bound. Slight surface and edge wear to the rear covers (light scratching and rubbing).
