Penguin, 1963 | Vintage Paperback, 206pp | 11 x 18 cm | Penguin Perry Mason Crime Series | Cover Design by Romek Marber

A classic Perry Mason mystery from the master of American courtroom drama, presented here in Penguin’s iconic green crime series livery. First published in 1942, this 1963 reprint features Romek Marber’s bold, modernist cover design, part of the era-defining “Marber grid” that gave Penguin crime fiction its sharp, instantly recognisable look.

The plot brims with Gardner’s signature blend of intrigue and legal sleight of hand: Helen Kendal’s missing uncle, a poisoned kitten and a tangle of attempted and successful murders. Mason, with Della Street at his side, unravels a case where feline psychology proves as vital as human motive.

A stylish slice of mid-century Penguin design history - and a taut Perry Mason whodunit where even a kitten may hold the key to the truth.

Very good vintage condition: Gently used vintage copy. Bright cover with light edgewear, spine intact with minor rubbing, clean pages with expected tanning. A small pen mark on the opening page and a neat little note on the inside of the rear cover, otherwise unmarked. A solid, collectable example.
