A striking document of Nicole Wittenberg’s 2025 solo exhibition, this book gathers vivid, immersive paintings that burst off the page - landscapes and florals transformed into emotional, sensual experiences. Wittenberg’s roses, hydrangeas, spruces and woodlands are not literal botanical studies but vessels of mood, light and presence.
Wittenberg layers bright underpaintings (neon pinks, oranges, vivid greens) beneath her oils to produce a surreal “lit-from-within” glow - a chromatic echo of her pastel studies, and a riotous take on colour rooted in Fauvist and post-Impressionist traditions.
Because her works are more about feeling than description, each viewing becomes a sensory immersion: sometimes exuberant, sometimes wistful or even melancholic - reflecting beauty and fragility, the ephemeral nature of blooms and seasons and the ever-present cycle of growth and decay.
Alongside full-page reproductions of the paintings, the book includes texts by Eleanor Acquavella and Sarah Messerschmidt, offering insight into Wittenberg’s process, influences and evolving painterly language. Studio photographs and installation views provide additional context, capturing the scale and vitality of the works as they inhabit space.
