A scarce early issue of LUNCHEON, the cult-format “cultural serving” that blends food, art, fashion, photography and long-form conversation into a single tactile object. This issue centres around the visual world of Paolo Roversi, who photographs Ginevra Elkann for the cover, and brings together a broad cast of artists, writers and image-makers in the magazine’s signature slow, generous pacing.
Features include Milano Chow with text by Lucy Kumara Moore; Mark Peckmezian’s photographs of Wirtshaus Moorlake in Berlin; Marius W Hansen’s The Art of Lunch; and a visit to Donlon Books for Food for Thought.
Conversations and portraits are threaded throughout: André Walker with Charlie Porter, photographed by Jody Rogac; Rose Wylie at home with Lizzie Carey Thomas; Maria Balshaw and Duro Olowu at Le Caprice, photographed by Roger Keller.
Further essays and portfolios include Michaël Borremans in conversation with Angela Choon, with photographs by Jack Davison; Annemarieke van Drimmelen’s Rituals from Zeeland; a celebration of milliner Stephen Jones by Suzy Menkes with photographs by Ben Toms; and a second Roversi series with Ginevra Elkann.
Also inside: Robin Muir on M. F. K. Fisher; Michael Bracewell on W. H. Auden and his circle; Benjamin Alexander Huseby’s Auf Der Schattenseite; Ola Rindal’s Mirror Me; La Pinède by Andreas Larsson with drawings by Alex Foxton; and Margot Henderson’s Drinking is Art with recipes photographed by Roger Keller.
Excellent condition: A couple of faint marks to the rear cover, otherwise clean, sharp and as new - appears unread.
