Libraryman, Stockholm, 2012 | Hardcover, unpaginated | 24 × 30.5 cm | 2nd Edition

A striking early photobook by Dutch artist Viviane Sassen, Die Son Sien Alles (The Sun Sees Everything), brings together work made in South Africa between 2002 and 2004. Blending staged and documentary elements, Sassen’s images explore themes of identity, memory and perception through a highly distinctive visual language - marked by bold colour, abstraction, fragmentation and the interplay of light and shadow.

Moving beyond conventional portraiture, the work occupies a space between fashion, art photography and conceptual practice, capturing fleeting moments that feel both intimate and disorienting. The sequencing creates a loose narrative rhythm, where everyday scenes, gestures and environments are transformed into something uncanny and poetic.

Bound in the publisher’s distinctive yellow cloth with black titling, the book was issued in a second edition of 700 unnumbered copies, reflecting its status as a highly regarded and sought-after contemporary photobook.

Very good condition: Mild wear to corners and edges of the boards. Internally clean and tightly bound. No inscriptions.
