A dark, psychologically charged graphic novel by British cartoonist Hannah Berry, Adamtine follows a group of strangers linked by a series of unexplained disappearances and cryptic messages delivered by an unknown figure. Set in the liminal spaces of late-night trains, stations and anonymous urban interiors, the book unfolds as a slow-burning thriller blending noir atmosphere, horror undertones and contemporary literary comics storytelling.
Rendered in Berry’s distinctive muted palette, the work combines cinematic pacing with tightly structured panel sequences, placing it within the wave of early-21st-century British graphic novels that pushed the medium towards psychological and literary territory. Berry’s debut Britten & Brülightly was an Official Selection at the Angoulême International Comics Festival, and Adamtine continues her exploration of memory, guilt and the uncanny.
